We are pleased to announce our fantastic venue for the third Ignite London event! The Luminaire in Kilburn will be the venue sponsor for Ignite London 3 on 28th September at 7pm. Get the date in your diaries now!
We are really excited about this venue, it proved to be a fantastic space for Ignite London 2 , it has a brilliant atmosphere, and the owner is very supportive having delivered an Ignite style talk himself .
Luminaire has won lots of awards for being a great venue: In February 2006, just eleven months after opening, Time Out magazine named The Luminaire as its Live Venue of The Year and in March 2007, two years after opening, it won Music Week’s UK Venue of The Year award. After seeing Luminaire in action as part of ignite london 2 we can understand why – it really is a great place and is a perfect fit for ignite, for our speakers and audience alike. So we are back again! Brilliant.
Details about The Luminaire can be found on their website.
The address is 311 Kilburn High Road, London, NW6 7JR and it is less than 5 minutes walk from Kilburn tube station (Jubilee Line) and Brondesbury station (London Overground).
A call for speakers for this event will follow soon, with all the details, how, where and why to submit your proposal. So all you budding speakers out there, get ready to rumble!

Dave says: A classic bit of geekery that makes you rethink your approach. Should help me beat my uber-competitive friend Laura for once. Unless she watches it too.
Dave Joyner, brilliant speaker at Ignite London #2 and now Ignite London #3 organiser sums up his speaker experience at the last ignite event . Let us know if you would like to write a post about your Ignite experiences!
I’d been aware of the Ignite format since it was first brought to the UK by the Ignite Cardiff team, so when Dan told me that he and Amy were going to establish Ignite London, I was very excited to participate in the project as an attendee. The range and quality of talks gave me food for thought and I started formulating ideas should a second event come about. I put together a proposal for Ignite London 2 and was lucky enough to be selected to speak. I talk a lot, sometimes in a professional capacity, often at length and often to audiences who are there under sufferance. The beauty of Ignite is that you will find an amazingly open minded, supportive audience, there to be enlightened, entertained and inspired. Despite hours of preparation my talk didn’t quite go to plan. I’d filled my head with hundreds of facts about the various great people in history that have shared my name, carefully selected the images of Daves I wanted to enthuse about and dreamt up a basic theme. When faced with more than two hundred eager faces, surging adrenaline fuelled by free beer and the relentless advancing slides, quite a bit of that went right out the window. In the fifteen seconds that each slide is visible you can only say about thirty to forty words, but as you can see from the video, you can do an awful lot of pointing.
I wasn’t the slickest speaker of the night, didn’t get the biggest laughs or have any blog or product to push. But that’s not really the point. I’d like to think that I gave people something to think about, introduced them to some people they would otherwise not have thought about, entertained and had a lot of fun myself. I’d urge you to put any fears aside, think up a proposal and speak at Ignite London 3. You won’t regret it.
The Ignite London team are gearing up for the next Ignite event, IgniteLDN #3! It’s been quiet on the Ignite London front for a while, thanks for being patient, but we’re back!
Ignite London 3 is coming Autumn 2010. The fine details are still being worked out, but we want to see you there! As always, admission will be free, and further details will be announced in the coming weeks. Please subscribe to the website or follow us on Twitter or find us on facebook to get the most up-to-date information.
In the meantime we thought it would be nice to share some of our favourite Ignite video’s from the global Ignite network, so you can see how wide, vibrant, interesting and sometimes bizarre Ignite talks can be.
Happy viewing!

Andy says: I love this presentation! For me it’s what Ignite is all about because the guy is clearly passionate about his subject. His slides are simple, but really get across the message he is giving. He brings you into his world, probably a world which you would otherwise have known very little about. A little bit of humour also goes a long way too. Warning: contains some strong language!
If you’ve got an interesting project that people should know about, get your thinking caps on and consider speaking at Ignite London #3, the call for speakers will be coming soon.
