Just about recovered from a brilliant Ignite London 5! We need to say a big big thank you to you all!
To all of those who came along and had a jolly good time, to all the amazing speakers, to 93 Feet East for being a most excellent venue, to the Eventbrite London team who came and scanned tickets with the great Eventbrite app and to Internet Week Europe for the heart shaped stickers. Also to everyone who let us know beforehand if they couldn’t make it, so we could give their ticket to someone on the waitlist. And finally a very big thanks to our very own Andy taking to the stage with a kilt! Every one of you has made Ignite London #5 what it was, an absolute blast!
The tweets using #igniteLDN5 have been archived by The Archivist can be found in detail here, with the top three words being Talk, Speakers and Beer. That sums up Ignite London quite well I think!
If you have any photos from the night we have a Flickr Group crying out for your lovely images of IgniteLDN5!
We’ve been quiet for a while, but the tinder has well and truly been lit! We’re back and raring to go! Ignite London will be back at 93 Feet East in Shoreditch on the 8th November!
We are now looking for speakers. If you had five minutes on a stage what would you say?
If there’s a topic you are passionate about and you want to spend five minutes telling a very enthusiastic audience all about it then this is your chance. We’re after a mix of high-energy, funny and serious, social and personal, high and low tech, crafty, webby, environmental, quirky and mainstream. Making us laugh is a good thing, making us think is even better! The only thing we insist on is No Sales Pitches. To get an idea of the wide range of previous talks take a look at the videos of previous Ignite Speakers.
So go on, “Enlighten us, but make it quick.”
How to submit a Proposal
Complete the online submission form on our Speak page.
Please include as much information about your proposed talk as you can, as this will help us determine who is chosen for the line-up. We will endeavour to respond to your proposal as soon as we can to confirm we’ve received it.
By submitting a proposal, you are agreeing that we may use your name and the title of your talk within Ignite London promotional material.
Deadline
Proposals must be received by 6 pm on Friday 7th October 2011. Based on the previous events we expect to receive many more submissions than can be accommodated so the more information about your talk you can give the better.
The Selection Process
Talks will be selected based on whether the topic is interesting, inventive, creative and unique. We will also make an attempt to select a wide range of topics, so that there isn’t too much overlap in terms of content and subjects that have been covered at previous Ignite London events. We’ll let you know soon after the deadline whether your proposal has been successful in order to give you as much time as possible to prepare.
We look forward to reading your proposals and good luck!
With great pleasure we are announcing our fantastic venue for the next Ignite London event, as part of Global Ignite Week 2011! 93 Feet East in Shoreditch will be our venue sponsor for Ignite London 4 on Tuesday 8th February at 7pm.
We are really ecstatic about this venue because it provides us with even greater capacity, has a fantastic atmosphere, is more central and offers plenty of places for you to dine before or after the event.
93 Feet East is a large independent music venue located in the heart of Brick Lane, converted from the Old Truman Brewery and plays host to upcoming and established acts. They celebrated their tenth anniversary this year and continue to be one of the most popular independent live, club and bar venues in London.
After visiting the main hall, we’re certainly looking forward to seeing a lot more of you on the night, even more so from the balcony. We feel that we’ve found a new home for Ignite London.
A call for speakers will be announced very soon, with all the details how and where to submit your proposal. Don’t forget to follow this blog and our social media links found in the sidebar, to hear about when tickets will be released.
The address is 150 Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL and is about 12 minutes walk from Liverpool Street underground/rail station and as you’ll see from the map below is surrounded by several other stations.
